The Big Circle in Bryant Park. It is communal art piece that is a large knitted circle. Given our love for Knitty City and how interesting the concept was, TK and I volunteered to help in anyway we could.
This picture is of the small red circle that the artists, Jean Hilken and Nell Berger, displayed at the center of the larger circle. The larger circle was over 150 feet in circumference!
(Note: Knitters were encouraged to wear a blindfold to better connect with the sound and feel of the knitting process. I didn't say it wasn't without its weirdness. Why else would I have been there?)
All together there were over 30 knitters (and non-knitters even) that came by and tried their hands at knitting on the big circle even though it drizzled most of the time we were there. Knitter's rock!
Hooray for umbrellas!
